Our Story

Ten31 is an African-inspired food house and curated retail space in York, created from a love of bold flavour, warm hospitality, and bringing people together.

For us, Ten31 is more than a place to eat. It is a place to feel welcomed, discover something new, enjoy familiar flavours, and take a little piece of our culture home with you.

Our food is proudly rooted in Nigerian cooking, the kind of food that carries memory, warmth, and generosity. From jollof rice and grilled favourites to soups, snacks, drinks, takeaway meals, delivery orders, and pantry goods, we want every part of Ten31 to feel thoughtful and full of care.

We created this space for everyone. For locals looking for a new favourite place. For students needing a good lunch with real flavour. For families who want somewhere warm and welcoming. For visitors discovering York and wanting something memorable. For Africans looking for a taste of home. And for anyone curious enough to try something different.

Ten31 is also a curated retail space, so the experience does not have to end with your meal. You can browse carefully selected food items, pantry goods, drinks, gifts, and African-inspired products to enjoy at home.

At the heart of Ten31 is a simple promise: to do what we do with care, purpose, and excellence. That promise shapes the food we cook, the way we serve, the products we choose, and the welcome we hope every person feels when they walk through the door.
